When to get the dress
Hello My Lovelies,
I am beyond grateful and excited to be writing my first post.
I thought we should start with the foundation. When should I start wedding dress shopping? This is a question I get asked often and one that actually has a few answers. To be safe, I usually tell my brides to shop six months to one year before the big day. You are probably thinking BG that is so far away from my wedding day. However, unlike ready-to-wear, a bridal gown is under the couture timeline. This is due to extensive detail and precise fit. Leaving time for correct fit and measurements is of the utmost importance.
If you have a specific dress or designer in mind, feel free to call your local boutique and ask them their suggestions for ordering time. However, six - twelve month is the universal timeline for boutiques. Now, there are chain retail shops, for example David's Bridal, who have large sample stock on hand which might enable you to get your dress with shorter ordering times. Some boutiques and chains also have sample dresses that you can take home that day! Once you decide if a boutique or chain is the right choice for you, don't be afraid to ask any questions, as they are there to help.
With all my love,
Bridal Godmother
